Kogi demolishes kidnappers’ house, Boko harams mosque
Kogi state Governor, Mr. Yahaya Bello, has ordered the demolition of a house suspected to be the abode of kidnappers in Oyunkoko, Okene.
Also demolished was a mosque suspected to belong to members of Boko haram in Adavi, also in Kogi central senatorial district.
The house is said to belong to the coordinator of a gang of notorious kidnappers where ransoms are brought and victims taken blindfolded.
Items recovered from the house include, Improvised explosive devices, guns and ammunition.
Tijanni Bakare, the owner of the house has reportedly confessed to being the ring leader of the gang of kidnappers that had terrorised the people of Kogi State and travelers.
The house and the mosque were brought down yesterday under the supervision of the governor.
The Anti Kidnapping, Robbery and Terrorism Law was passed by the State House of Assembly and assented to by Former Governor Idris Wada.
Governor Bello had earlier warned that anyone harbouring criminals or even unsure of the source of income of their tenants who live large, run the risk of having their houses demolished.
“Any house where arms and ammunition are recovered will be brought down,” the Governor said.
