Fraudsters plant tiny cameras in ATM machines

Fraudsters now plant tiny cameras in regular ATM machines to steal cardholder’s pins.

The camera is hidden behind a pinhead-sized hole and beneath a false cover above the cash dispensing slot to record as victims put in their pin number.

After police discovered the device inside a cashpoint in St Paul’s Churchyard in central London in February, several articles have been published to alert the public.

According to Metro UK, a similar device was found inside a cashpoint in the area on March 7, and officers also seized two other devices believed to be attached to cash machines in the city.

The police had advised that everyone takes care and stay vigilant when using cash machines in the City of London, and London as a whole.

‘If you spot anything unusual about a cash machine, or if there are signs of tampering, don’t use it. If in doubt, try and use a machine inside a branch.’
